Snowboard shop in Manchester from Ken JonesAt Ken Jones Ski Mart, we see our fair share of thrill-seekers, go-getters, up and at’ems, and so on and so forth. And we’re lucky to be surrounded by such enthusiastic and inspiring people – the type of people that don’t sit on their laurels when confronted with adversity. The people that roll through our snowboard shop in Manchester come from a broad cross-section of backgrounds, demographics and experiences, but all share a sense of adventure that, to this day, after five decades in the business, still amazes us.

“What? It’s summer? No snow in New England? I’m getting the heck out!”

Yea, our snowboard shop in Manchester is full of awe-inspiring people that really have this mentality. Some people have serious snow addictions that take them to places they never expected to go. No matter the season or time of day, somewhere in the world there are snow-covered peaks calling out to those gnarly enough to ride anywhere, anytime.

The following are five of the top resorts for summer riding around the world.

  1. Timberline Lodge, Oregon – Offers year-round riding, providing the lengthiest ski and snowboard season in North America. It has four of the best freestyle terrain parks at Mt. Hood and 3,960 vertical feet of powder extravaganza. They also have many different camps to attend year-round.
  2. Whistler Blackcomb, British Colombia, Canada – Combining summer heat and winter snow, Whistler offers some of the most interesting riding conditions in the world. Canada’s glorious Hortsman Glacier keeps this resort open well into the summer season. This mountain has race-training, park and pipe, moguls and freeride for anyone interested in keeping their skills sharp.
  3. Treble Cone, New Zealand – Operating from late June to late September (their Winter), Treble Cone’s gorgeous backcountry terrain provides the ideal conditions for those looking for a challenge. The park features tons of jumps, fun boxes (with NO lines!) and table tops where you can really hone your technical skills. And they’re always organizing some exciting events so keep your ear to the proverbial snow-stone when it comes to this resort.
  4. Perisher, Australia – This is the biggest ski area in Australia and is made up of a massive amount of terrain in New South Wales. It is the combination of four villages, seven mountain peaks that include five terrain parks as well as a super-pipe, and is connected by 47 ski lifts with a mind-blowing, high-speed eight-seater! Having invested more than $22 million over the last nine years has made this one of the most sought after riding spots in the world.
  5. Las Lenas, Argentina – Las Lenas provides terrain designed for all skill levels from late June to mid-October and is known for its exciting night life and South American flare on snowboarding. This place is perfect for those looking to explore backcountry terrain and really getting into some serious off-piste riding.

So those are five of the best places to ride this summer. While they may be far away from New England, you’ll find that each one of them is worth the trip!
