After months and a seemingly endless string of qualifying events, the U.S. Olympic Snowboarding Team has finally come together and is ready to forge ahead to Sochi, Russia. Everyone at our
ski shop in Manchester, NH have been on the edge of our seats, white knuckled and seething to know which of our favorite snowboarders will be representing the U.S. in this year's Winter Olympic Games. And now, at long last, the team has come together. Just announced yesterday, the U.S. Snowboarding Team is made up of a collection of past Olympians, World Cup champions, and even some rookies.
Let's not waste anymore time and get right into the heart of this thing. Here are the names of the lucky riders who've won the chance to rock the Sochi Winter Olympic games in only a few weeks from now. From the halfpipe competition, to snowboard cross, and to the new slopestyle competition, the following riders will be proudly representing the U.S.
The U.S. Olympic Snowboard Team
Jamie Anderson, Nick Baumgartner, Greg Bretz, Kelly Clark, Danny Davis, Alex Deibold, Kaitlyn Farrington, Arielle Gold, Taylor Gold, Chas Guldemond, Faye Guilini, Jackie Hernandez, Nate Holland, Trevor Jacob, Lindsey Jacobellis, Jessika Jensen, Sage Kotsenburg, Justin Reiter, Karly Shorr, Ryan Stassel, Hannah Teter, Ty Walker, and Shaun White.
Since last week, when 13 of the 23 allowed Olympic snowboarders were announced, these new additions to the team are definitely helping to solidify the chances of the U.S. bringing home a number of Olympic medals. Of these new additions to the team, the golden eye has been put on Lindsey Jacboellis. Having won a silver medal eight years ago in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, Jacobellis has been dominating the X-Games and ranks second in the World Cup standings only behind Canada's Dominique Maltais. She's a seven-time gold medalist in the X-Games and specializes in snowboard cross so there's a great deal of hype surrounding her taking home the gold medal this year.
