A native of
Seabrook, NH, Scotty Lago is once again setting his sights on an Olympic medal
for 2014. He brought home a bronze medal for the halfpipe in the 2010 Olympic
Games in Vancouver, and is currently practicing up to four hours a day on the
halfpipe. He’s hoping to return to the Winter Olympics this year with an even
sharper edge over the competition.

Known by his
peers for having a unique and versatile style of snowboarding, Lago is now
devoted almost entirely to the halfpipe. In an interview with the Hampton
Union newspaper, Lago said, “I literally did everything for years. I’m
feeling very confident. My only focus this year is the halfpipe.”
It’s with a
laser focus that Lago takes to the halfpipe this year. The prospects of him
bringing the 2014 US snowboard team a gold medal this year has never before
been so engraved in Lago’s mindset and riding. It’s highly conceivable that he
may best fellow Olympian, Shaun White, in the 2014 Olympics. In 2010, White
took the gold in the halfpipe and is thought by many to be Lago’s primary
competition this year.
Staying grounded from 40 feet in the air

Amidst all
of the international attention that Scotty Lago has garnered through his
snowboarding, he has managed to keep his NH, “Live Free or Die,” mentality with
a humble pride. When he’s not perfecting his crippler or mctwist on the pipe,
you can find him in the woods of New Hampshire; hunting, fishing, and even
skeet shooting. Lago has also used his success and notoriety to give back to
the community that he calls home. Not only does he share his skills and
knowledge of snowboarding with young riders at High Cascade Snowboard Camp,
Lago has been instrumental in the efforts to raise funds for the Floating Hospital for Children in
Boston.
